Corunna – Sada - Betanzos

We will start with a visit to the landmark sites of the city: the Marina Avenue, with its famous glass facades, the Maritime Tour, the San Antón Castle –which houses the Museum of Archaeology and History and where visitiors can delve into the history of the city since the Middle Ages–, the Hercules Tower –the most ancient active lighthouse in the world–, the Riazor and Orzán beaches.
From Corunna we will drive towards Oleiros past the Passage Bridge (Puente del Pasaje), the Santa Cristina and Bastiagueiro beaches and some beautiiful villages such as Santa Cruz, where a small castle on a small islet stands out, and the stately home Pazo de Meirás, up to the ceramic-manufacturing village of Castro, where you can buy the typical Sargadelos pieces. After this, we will continue along the national highway up to Betanzos.
Once in Betanzos, the main tourist sight is the town itself, declared a historic-artistic site in 1970 on account of its monuments, walls and old neighbourhoods. Betanzos was one of the seven capital cities of Galicia and, as such, it houses important historic-artistic buildings. The heart of the city is the Plaza García Hermanos, most popularly known as O Campo square since it used to be the town’s Market Square. Some of the religious buildings worth visiting are the San Domingo convent, from the 16-18th Century period, the San Francisco church, (a magnificent example of the 15th Century Romanesque architecture), the San Francisco church, and the Santa María de Azogue church.
After the tour, we will have lunch and drive back to Corunna.

Santiago de Compostela

We will visit the monumental heritage site of Santiago de Compostela, with its major monuments and squares. A landmark destination is the famous Obradoiro square, the grandiose heart of Santiago de Compostela, surrounded by four important buildings: the Cathedral, the Hostal dos Reis Católicos –an old pilgrims’ hospital turned into a national hotel–, the San Xerome college –head office of the University of Santiago–, and the Raxoi Palace, home to the Galician Xunta. We will visit the Santiago de Compostela Cathedral where we will relish at the sight of its famous Botafumeiro (censer).
After the tour, we will have lunch and enjoy some free time time before returning to Corunna.
