Preparatory Meeting of the Organising Committee Held in León

On July 9th, a preparatory meeting for the 1st International Congress on Roads, Culture and Territory, which will take place on March 3rd to 5th, 2010, in A Coruña, was held in León. The meeting was attended by Carlos Nárdiz Ortiz, Dean of the Galician Department of the Professional Register of Road, Canal and Port Engineers, who was accompanied by José Antonio González Meijide, the Vice-Dean, as well as by Fernando Corbal Debén, Enrique Urcola Fernández-Miranda, Eloy Fernández-Valdés Martínez-Estévez, and Manuel Durán Fuentes, members of the Board of Directors, and Francisco Rosado Corral, Secretary of the Board.
At the meeting, the Castile-León Department was represented by its Dean, Francisco Ledesma García, and its Secretary, Javier Muñoz Álvarez. The Ministry of Development was represented by Ángel González del Río, Head of the Department of State Roads in Galicia; Eduardo Toba Blanco, Miguel Ángel García Rodríguez, and Manuel González Fernández, Heads of the Road Exploitation and Maintenance Services of A Coruña, La Rioja y León, respectively; Manuel Rafales Molina, Head of the Planning, Projects and Works Service of the Department of State Roads in Eastern Castile and León; and Isaac Moreno Gallo, from the Department of State Roads in Aragon, and current advisor to the Castile-León Board.
At the meeting, the issues that are to be addressed during the congress —from historic roads to their landscape— were discussed, and those involved in the design and preservation of roads were encouraged to actively participate in the congress by contributing their own experiences.
