Presentation of the Congress

On February 18th, the Organising Committee met in A Coruña to announce the 1st International Congress on Roads, Culture and Territory, organised by the Galician Department of the Professional Register of Road, Canal and Port Engineers; the Department of State Roads in Galicia; and the General Directorate of Public Works of the Autonomous Government of Galicia (Xunta de Galicia). The congress will be held in A Coruña on March 3rd, 4th and 5th, 2010, and its venue will be the Palacio de Exposiciones y Congresos – PALEXCO.

The congress will be devoted to roads as cultural and natural heritage assets as well as arrangers of the territory. The importance of the project will be reinforced. The geographical scope of the congress will not be limited to Galicia, but will extend to cover the adjacent and Cantabrian communities —Castile-León, Asturias, Cantabria and the Basque Country. The northern region of Portugal will also be included. The involvement of the agencies responsible for the roads in these communities and at the national level, as well as of the departments of the Register and the Northern Region of the Portuguese Order of Engineers, will be sought.
